SRI-LMB Project Holds Farmer Exchange Visit Surin, Thailand 11-12 November 2014

The Surin Office of Nonformal and Informal Education hosted the "Farmer Exchange Visit" organized by FAO and the Asian Institute of Technology under the EU-financed project on "Sustaining and Enhancing the Momentum for Innovation and Learning around the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) in the Lower Mekong River Basin".

The Objectives of the exchange visit were: (1) to strengthen the capacity of Farmer and District Trainers in designing, conducting, evaluating and managing experiments through Farmer Participatory Action Research (FPAR), and (2) to strengthen regional networking on matters relative to the implementation of SRI research and development among farmers, extension agents and research institution representatives.

A total of 14 (2 women) participants attended, including Farmer Trainers and government counterparts from Cambodia and Lao PDR. Experience and knowledge gained from the exchange visit will be used to strengthen existing and planned activities on farmer experimentation on innovative practices under the System of Rice Intensification.
