Farmer Field Studies

Interested IPM alumni carry out Farmer Field Studies (FFS) based on their needs and priorities. These post-FFS field studies are intended for farmers to acquire a deeper understanding about the factors that affect plant growth and to find solutions to their crop production and protection problems. Depending on the nature of research being conducted, the post-FFS activity includes weekly meetings for one to two months or throughout the season to discuss the studies and special topics. The FFS develops core groups of farmers who can work with other farmer groups using the same process of designing and carrying out field studies as follow-up activities.

Detailed procedure for designing field studies can be found in the Manual on Facilitating Scientific Method.
